As a nationally licensed massage therapist John understands first hand the powerful healing abilities of massage, both on an emotional and physical level. It was this understanding, along with a strong desire to help others, that led him to develop JMP Enterprises.

It is also the reason that he has devoted his personal time to helping those who have been relocated in Portland due to hurricane Katrina. Over 360 hurricane victims from the disaster have been moved up to Portland, Oregon, the home of JMP Enterprises. John has been volunteering his time to give massages to the victims and Red Cross personnel.

Our owner, John William Johnson, is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, a Yamuna Body Rolling teacher, as well as a yoga instructor. He currently teaches yoga in the community and at the local men's prison.

The Company History

JMP Enterprises, LLC was founded by John William Johnson, MFCC, NCMT. Twenty years ago, John moved to the West Coast from New York City, where he was in a PhD program at NYU in Health Education.There he studied massage and psychotherapy. He first worked as a massage therapist.

Once he received his state license as a Marriage and Family Therapist, he began with people with eating disorders. He was in charge of the Behavioral Therapy Division of the Weight Management program at Valley Presbyterian Hospital.

He went on to work with people who suffered from back pain. He treated many patients who were either on medication or having surgery for their back pain.

This led to his quest to find alternative solutions for people suffering from chronic pain. He consulted with orthopedists, chiropractors and other medical professionals.

During this time, he developed "Back Love," a company that developed back care products. He attended major medical and dental conventions throughout the USA. His intention was to inform doctors about alternative methods of treatment. John quickly learned that professionals have a vested interest in what they do. Orthopedists are not going to tell their patients about alternatives to surgery. M.D.'s are going to prescribe pharmaceutical drugs. And chiropractors are going to adjust your backs. That is what they studied, and that is what they do.

For this reason, and with a sincere desire to help people find more effective ways to get relief from pain and suffering, John went on to take his tested products and a wealth of information to the general public. He used the Internet as a conduit to reach many people who were in need of his professional advice.

A few years ago, with the advent of online shopping, John developed an E-Commerce site to sell the best tools for maintaining and developing healthy backs. This site has attracted thousands of customers from all over the world. John Johnson's expertise in the field of massage therapy also earned him a place on the official US Massage Therapy team at the 2002 Winter Olympics. John, and a select group of specialists, attended to the "recovery" needs of all the competing athletes.
